What can Chiropractors adjust?

Chiropractors are best known for their ability to adjust bones of the spine. They go through a lot of schooling to know exactly how to move those bones so they correct problems instead of creating them. However, chiropractors can adjust more than just the spine. If there are bones and a joint then a chiropractor can adjust it.

Shoulders, Elbows, wrists, fingers, hips, knees, ankles and feet also all have joints and bones. These can also be adjusted by a chiropractor. Some chiropractors don’t like to adjust extremities- for whatever reason- instead they prefer to just adjust the spine. Some chiropractors went to extra courses to learn how to adjust cranial bones. Ask your chiropractor if they adjust more than just the spine.

For people who have shoulder pain and want to see if they have another option besides surgery, a chiropractor should be consulted. We aren’t saying every shoulder problem can be fixed by chiropractic, but the shoulder bones may not be in the correct positions which may be the cause of the that person’s shoulder pain. This would be a cheaper non-invasive option if that was all that was wrong. Definitely worth the check.

This idea of adjusting other things other than the spine may seem strange. But all these things are made up of bones and joints. So naturally if they have the same make up (bones and joints) then they can also get locked up or moved out of place which would cause discomfort, pain, loss of range of motion, and inflammation. An adjustment would put the bones back in the correct positions and allow everything to move correctly, just like when the chiropractor adjusted a bone of your spine.
