People are divided on whether or not they like to hear “cracking” when they get adjusted. Some individuals love a hands on adjustment where they hear a satisfying “crack” or “pop” sound during an adjustment. Others DO NOT love that and such noises would make them concerned that something had broken.
What is the “crack” or “pop” noise? It is just air being released when the joint space is opened. Like when people pop or crack their knuckles. No bones are being cracked but a noise is heard.
Are there ways of being adjusted without the “cracking”? Yes! There are multiple ways of adjusting bones in the body and many ways to be adjusted without hearing any “cracking” noises. In our office we use an Arthrostim, a hand held tool that delivers small gentle repetitive taps to move bones back into correct alignment. We also have a drop table, meaning that when you are getting adjusted the table below the area being adjusted shifts downward to help adjust. No cracking or popping noises are heard with this either, but you will hear the table shifting or dropping.
What if you just don’t want your neck to be “cracked” but you don’t mind hearing it anywhere else? No problem! Just let us know and we are happy to accommodate your wishes.
Regardless of your preference for adjusting styles. “Cracking” or no “cracking” we are proficient at what we do and have options so you remain in charge of your healthcare and what you are comfortable with.
